BEFORE I BUY
What size christening outfit should I buy if my baby is between sizes?
Don't worry too much about the size you choose, we're more than happy to help find the perfect fit. If you'd rather go ahead yourself, we always recommend sizing up if your baby falls between sizes or if the event is more than a few weeks away. Babies grow quickly, and a slightly roomier formal outfit is much more comfortable for them than one that is too snug. For the perfect fit, we highly suggest going by your baby's current chest measurement rather than just their age. You can view our detailed measurement guide. If you are still unsure, send us a message—we love helping parents find the perfect fit!
What is the difference between white and ivory, and which should I choose for my baby's baptism?
It mostly comes down to personal preference and family tradition! Some people are very definite that they would like white but our most popular colourway is Ivory. It's a little bit softer and kinder to most skin tones. Please bear in mind that silk white is never a stark white, silk can't be bleached so it stays a slightly off white. Our cotton white is pure white.
Tip: If you are buying accessories like bonnets, booties, or shawls, we recommend purchasing them from the same collection to ensure an exact fabric colour match.
Are your outfits comfortable for a baby’s sensitive skin?
Absolutely. We know that a crying, uncomfortable baby is the last thing you want on a special day. That is why we design our outfits with a "beauty on the outside, comfort on the inside" philosophy. All of our silk items are lined with silky soft dress lining and we ensure that scratchy tulle, stiff lace, and raw seams never come into direct contact with your baby's skin.
Our cotton items are lined in cotton. If you would prefer to have your silk gown lined in cotton, that's no problem at all, just let us know.
I see your silk gowns are left open at the back skirt, why is this and can I have it closed up?
Yes, we can absolutely close the back if you prefer but we started doing this out of years of research. This is the traditional way that christening gowns were made as it makes handling baby in a potentially slippy gown a lot easier. You can pop your hand under baby's bottom when you carry them and the gown flows down over your arm without bunching up.
If you'd prefer the gown closed at the back, just ask. As all our gowns are handmade to order, it's no problem to have it made to your preference.
How do I clean and store the outfit after the ceremony?
To preserve your outfit as a family heirloom, we recommend having it gently dry cleaned or hand-washed (cotton only) as soon as possible after the event to prevent invisible stains (like breast milk, formula or drool) from setting. Never store heirloom clothing in plastic bags, as this traps moisture and causes yellowing.

PLACING MY ORDER
How far in advance should I order my baby's special occasion outfit?
The "sweet spot" is ordering 4 to 6 weeks before your event. This gives you complete peace of mind, allows time for us to make it and have it with you in plenty of time for your event. If your event is right around the corner, you can contact us directly to check immediate availability.
Can I request alterations or custom designs?
Absolutely! We love creating heirloom pieces that are uniquely yours. We can accommodate custom requests such as:
- Adding family embroidery (e.g., initials or baptism dates).
- Incorporating a piece of vintage fabric (like a mother's wedding dress).
- Adjusting sleeve lengths or skirt lengths.
Note: Please contact us before placing your order to discuss custom design requests, as they may incur an additional fee and require extra production time.
How do I care for my Christening Gown
How should I clean the christening gown after the ceremony? Because we use delicate, high-quality fabrics like silk, heirloom cotton, and fine lace, we strictly recommend professional dry cleaning by a specialist experienced in preservation. Never machine wash or tumble dry your heirloom items.
What is the best way to store the baptism gown as a keepsake?
To preserve the special item for future generations, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not store the gown in a plastic bag, as plastic traps moisture and can cause yellowing. Do use an acid-free archival garment box or a 100% muslin cotton garment bag.
